This is the start of a new thing... Something I am calling "Twice as Nice" How to take the best of patchwork & applique, and use them in the same quilt. Why would you want to do this? Because, there are some amazing visual effects that can be made with curves. But curves are hard in patchwork, easy in applique. So, do them in applique. Fuse onto a background square. Then just sew together squares.
A very pratical approach to making a stunning quilt.
Also, The original plan for these patterns was to make 9 inch blocks. It has alot of pieces, and that felt right. But the 6 inch block was really nice, and not too small, so we tried a 4.5 inch block, since that is half of nine, right? and it worked too. We were not crazy enough to try the 3 inch block or 2.25 inc block yet, but since there was room on the page, we included those 2 sizes also. Or 5 Sizes! 9,6,4.5,3,2.25 finished block size ptterns with .25 inch seam allowance included.
Don't forget to order your Softfuse Premium. - It holds everything together.
Don't forget to get your Grid-It, Grid-It. I know, you do not know what this is? It is gridded interfacing and the trick to the perfectly positioned appliqué.
If you purchase the paper patterm you get enough Grid-It for the one design in the patterm. It is re-susable on all of the blocks.
Download Pattern Requires 11 X 17 inch paper for printing.
We love a good download, but the paper pattern is worth it.
You get a Sample of the Grit-It, and multiple copies of the pattern. In most of our fusible projects, we say the first step is to trace the design onto the fusible, but in this pattern, that is not the case - The paper pattern is laid on top, and cut at the same time as fabric. Therefore, you need enough pages of patterns to make all of the blocks.
